Shop Mechanic/Farm/Hand
Job Type: Part-Time
We’re looking for a reliable Shop Mechanic / Farm Hand to keep our equipment running and support farm operations. You’ll perform mechanical repairs, operate farm machinery, fabricate parts, and help with field work. This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving, and being part of a small team that keeps the farm and attractions moving.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform service and repairs on trucks, tractors, and a variety of farm equipment
- Operate farm equipment for planting, hay, harvest, and tillage as needed
- Fabricate and weld parts to maintain or modify equipment
- Replenish fluids and replace engine and machinery components
- Keep accurate records of equipment services and repairs
- Troubleshoot issues and perform repairs aimed at maximum reliability
- Perform general farm hand duties and other tasks as assigned
CORE SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Mechanical aptitude and problem solving
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Safe operation of tractors and farm equipment
- Strong attention to detail and record keeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Part-time availability
- Valid driver's license and must pass Center Grove Orchard driving evaluation
- At least 2 years of mechanic experience working on vehicles or heavy equipment
- Knowledge of basic machine systems and farm operations
- Preferred experience with agricultural or construction equipment in a shop setting
- Willingness to learn modern farm operations and uncommon cropping systems
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
- Part-time hours with flexibility during peak farm seasons
- May include early starts and occasional weekend work
- Compensation: Skill-based pay depending on experience
